An expert in nonverbal behavior, Navarro trained himself to detect when people are lying, turned on or off, threatened, or poised for physical violence.
“Body language is basically a billboard,” says Navarro, who now trains others in this evolving art. “It’s not that hard to tell what someone is thinking.”
Navarro says even this year’s election may have been influenced by body language. He called a win for Barack Obama well before the votes were tallied.
Reading people became Navarro’s passion when he moved to Miami, Fla., at age 8 as an exile from Cuba.
“I began to study what people were saying [with their bodies] because at first I didn’t understand [English],” he says. “I remember noting the difference between teachers who liked me.” Those who were fond of him raised their eyebrows when they saw him, Navarro explains. The teachers who didn’t like him would squint.
The Eyes Have It
When people see something they don’t like, they’ll block it from sight. Squinting, eye rubbing or closing those peepers are all signs of “eye blocking,” cues that a person feels threatened, unhappy or disdainful
We can’t completely control our eyes, and that’s why they’re such powerful indicators of our feelings. When we see something we like, our pupils dilate; when we see something we don’t, the pupils constrict.
Arched eyebrows are another sign we feel confident or that we like what’s in front of us. Lowered brows mean the opposite.
Eye contact leaves a powerful impression – and those who use it seem dominant. What’s the first thing we do when we’re embarrassed or humbled? Look away. Remember that the next time you meet the gaze of your boss or a would-be sweetheart.
If you want to come across as truthful and untroubled, beware how often you blink or flutter your eyelids, Navarro says. Frequency of blinks increases with fibs (gambling bluffers, take note). Meanwhile, eye fluttering, at least outside of a Disney movie, indicates more discomfort than romance

I get what she’s saying. There was a time when you had to actually work to put your look together and it took creativity, too. Nowadays if you’re hooked up with the right stylist and you have a big enough budget, you snap your fingers and you’re a style icon. That being said, gotta wonder if there wasn’t a little bit of shade being thrown there at a certain singer who Kelis has (wrongly) been accused of biting style ideas from.

Kobe Bryant doesn’t think like other athletes. He’s maniacal about every facet of his game, every facet of his daily routine, and yes, even every last detail of his footwear. In working with the Nike Innovation Kitchen and designers Eric Avar and Tom Luedecke, they’ve developed a relationship over the years that’s allowed them to continually push performance that’s quite frankly leading the industry. They’re willing to push the cuts of collars, the heights of midsoles and the degree of outriggers where nobody has gone before.
As part of a detailed conversation that touched on his latest signature shoe, the Zoom Kobe V, as well as the feedback he’s been getting from around the league and much more, read along for select excerpts of Sole Collector’s interview with Kobe Bryant. Nick DePaula: Based on the fact that you wore the Hyperdunk even with the IV bottom on it early last year, you were really feeling the IV. What were some of the things you planned to improve on for the V?
Kobe Bryant: One of the things that we wanted to add was more responsiveness in the shoe, in terms of the flexibility. For example, if you bounce on your toes up and down, you want to feel like the shoe is more responsive and a quicker response. We also wanted the shoe to be lighter, and play even closer to the ground. Also, there’s always a constant source of improvement from shoe to shoe, to be able to shave down seconds in your change of direction, so that the foot is not sliding within the shoe. We’re constantly looking to improve on how the shoe is molded onto the foot itself.
The V is even lower than the IV. How low can you go, or are you in a zone with this one that you’re really pleased with?
It’s not necessarily about going low just for the sake of going lower or to see if we can top this or top that, it’s really about functionality and about doing something that makes sense. It’s not just about having a shoe that’s low to the ground for whatever reason, but having something that’s functional, and we felt like we could cut out an ounce and significantly lower the weight by going lower and we’re not losing any of the functionality or comfort in the shoe.

The bottom line is that you either make decisions out of love for others or love for yourself. Put the happiness of your partner above your own. Love leads to inner joy.

-Do they believe i have their best interests in mind?
-Do they see me as looking out for myself first?

Dr. Dre Links With Hewlett-Packard For A $40 Mil Ad Campaign via Bossip by thatsmybiz1 on 3/13/10
Legendary Hip-Hop producer Dr. Dre has been tapped to be a part of a $40 million dollar Hewlett-Packard advertising campaign.
The eight-week campaign is titled “Let's Be Amazing” and features Dr. Dre in his recording studio expounding on the benefits of the HP Beats computing system.
In addition to the commercial featuring the Aftermath CEO, comedian Rhys Darby and photographer Annie Leibovitz among others are also scheduled to be featured in the campaign.
“The laptop is the new stereo for a lot of people and that's why we're putting out this computer with incredible sound,” Dr. Dre said of his new notebook PC.
The spots are part of Hewlett-Packard's attempt to redefine itself to their consumer base, in addition to giving the company some “personality and distinction.”
The producer's HP ENVY 15 Beats limited edition notebook PC is a collaboration between Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine of Interscope and HP's engineers.

Here is the problem that I don’t think people are clearly defining. Dre was made rich by the Jews and made them even richer by producing, writing and promoting negative stereotypes about the black community. The jews do not allow any Jewish stereotypes of their people on the radio, tv and movies. That’s none, ever! Now, is it too much of a stretch to understand that if they can completely eliminate jewish stereotypes they can also create and promote black stereotype or limit and/or eliminate black stereotypes on radio, tv and the movies?

While on the train with my seemingly normal and mature beyond his year's co-worker, I noticed his eyes bug out of his head and his whole disposition change. He morphed into a DUDE before my eyes! Without having to ask I turned my head to the side and saw what the kryptonite was…a girl with a HUGE butt. Now I get it! I swear! It's some man gene. For some its breasts; for some its butts; for some its some weird cocktail of a bunch of different things. My issue- ITS NOT FAIR! This poor girl was born like this, its not like she chose it! And because of genes she is subjected to being a sexual object every time she walks down the street?? Poor thing. But what really bothers me is not what happens to these grown women but what it does to the children. A woman does not develop at 18 or 20; she develops at 13 or 14. So if sexualization starts the minute they develop into their true "form" , 13 or 14-year-old girls are being sexualized at ages where they don't even understand what's happening to them. When grown men and boys are all ogling you before you even know what ogling is (or that its wrong) what does it do to your psyche? I believe we have all seen the living embodiment of this. That girl in your 6th grade class who get breasts before anyone else. She's being talked to by middle school and high school boys and she's noticeably absent by the time your 12th grade picture is taken. The problem is that why all kids are struggling to figure out who they are and what their place is in the world, these girls are told their breasts and butts are the answer. OR what happens to the other females in these sexualized girls classes? They are learning and classifying these girls as sexual as well. They now become bad girls and not they type that the "good" girls necessarily hang around. By the time these overly developed 13 or 14 year olds become actual adults their position is society has been staked out for them in mens eyes and in women's. Don't get me wrong; I have plenty of friends with big butts who made it just fine. Lol. But I am positive at some point their body type took away a little more of their childhood then it should of.
The answer? (Because I hate when people pose issues without even trying to think of a solution) hmmm…maybe teaching our little boys that women should be respected and nurtured at all costs and that their bodily urges are just that…THEIRS? Or maybe its teaching little girls that their self-esteem and character is based on things unseen?…OR maybe not having kids and stopping that cycle? HAHA. Or human existence. Maybe that's not a good option. I'll keep thinking… you stop ogling.
