Core77’s ‘Sketch Fu’ Thread Hits 100 Pages

As much as we love our healthy doses of sneaker updates and news around here, there’s something to be said for the extreme skill required to actually conceptualize and design a shoe from scratch. Over on Core77.com, there’s a budding collection of industrial design talents that post up their latest sketches and renderings in the hit ‘Sketch Fu’ thread, where they can discuss stylings and receive criticism from industry veterans. Forum Admin ‘yo,’ aka Michael Ditullo, who also happens to be the Design Director for Converse Basketball, recently pulled together a collection of his favorite renderings from the ‘Sketch Fu’ thread as it hit the 100 page mark, and here we have a look at the varied sketchwork spanning many sports, uses and genres. Included among the ten artists is the destined-for-success Ben Adams-Keane, winner of the 2008 Future Sole Design Competition, as well as Chris Padilla, who you can read all about in our upcoming Issue 28 as the featured Focus:Artist. Be sure to keep an eye on Core77’s Footwear forum as it remains a gem of design work related to our industry from both aspiring artists and professionals.
